random string of thoughts.

My sweet friends!

I've missed you this week. Several times I sat down at my laptop, ready to write a post. But each time, I couldn't do it. It wasn't writer's block and it wasn't due to a lack of ideas or thoughts. I suppose I was in a bit of a funk.... not necessarily a bad funk, but a funk nonetheless. This mixture of feeling overwhelmed, a little weary, and contemplative = the funk. And because of my promise to myself and my readers to never write "funk posts" on this little blog, I took a step back and I'm finally here today.

My heart is full, and I have few words tonight. A few exciting projects the Lord has led me to begin are filling my time and threatening to overwhelm my mind. And until I can share those with you soon, I want to share with you a few thoughts -

I am learning.

When to step out and be brave. When to refrain and be quiet. Learning to listen to His whispers and follow His word. To be present in every moment, the mundane as well as the amazing. To breathe, to rest, to work. To do what I don't feel like doing...and to do what I really, really want to do. And learning to trust God in the uncertainties of life.

I'll be back, my dears, early this coming week. 'Til then, I'd love to share some bits from the past two weeks... which are really just a random string of moments, pictures, and thoughts.

Friend, what are you learning and how is your heart? I'd love to hear.

Perfect candle from my mom - smells just like a Pumpkin Spice Latte :)
The last of Summer days by the sea.
I love playing catch on the beach with my dad
My sweet friend Beka sent me this package. Tears! Visit her lovely blog here

Prayers for each one of you who reads.
Shine for Him this week and stay true to who YOU are and what you believe.

Love.

XO
Erin

  5. Love the random assortment of thoughts and gentle encouragement. I love your promise, to never write funk posts.
I am learning to recognize those things that the enemy tries to engage me in, the anxiety, thought patterns...are nothing new. He never really comes up with a new attack or approach. So I am learning to resist. And to ask God for his strengrh immediately when that first negative thought enters mg mind.

  9. Sweet Erin, I loved this post! Here is my version of what I am learning (a few things are the same because they are relate to me too):

When to step out and be brave. When to speak up instead of refraining. Learning to seek His presence every moment of the day and to communicated with Him constantly. I am learning to let God be in control, He knows what's best. To be present in every moment, the mundane as well as the amazing. To do what I may not want to do, but should do. And to do what I am passionate about. I am learning that I am fearfully and wonderfully made!

I loved Hebrews 10:23 and it was just great to reflect on what God has been teaching me lately. God bless you and enjoy those pumpkin spice lattes.

  13. Oh yes, I've been in that funk! And I appreciate you deciding not to write while feeling that. I made a similar decision a while back to only write posts that I feel are important and that have something of substance. I want my blog to reflect my best writing, not just me trying to post daily. It's resulted in weeks with nothing followed by full weeks. And I think readers (I know I do!) appreciate always reading great content. And I always enjoy your words of wisdom.

Hope you get out of that funk quickly! We'll miss you this week ;)

  17. Great post...

What have I been learning? Don't take for granted those who are in your life now will always be there because at some point they won't be whether by death or otherwise. Cherish the here and now and love those people right now, not later.

    xoxo,
    Melissa

  21. I enjoyed this post! Especially the quote you have "The moment you're ready to quit is usually the moment right before the miracle happens." My pastor says something very similar. He says "The enemy fights you for not where you are but for where you're going to be." He knows that God has something greater in store for us and he tries to stop us. Just like you said, Don't give up!
